Oh yeah - house stuff 2

We have decided to hold fire at the moment - it is open to bids till end of Jan and there are a few financial things going on at OH work at the mo so we will wiat for the ground to settle. J's Mum hasn't been too well and thinks she is going to pop her clogs (it sounds like gall bladder/gall stones to me - but I can understand she feels like she might croak as it is SO uncomfrotable!) and has been sorting a few things out and suggested we put an offer in (via her) for her place which is a protected tenancy (been there 53 years!!!!) and also it is likely J would inherit the tenancy for a number of reasons - but of course that is a spanner in the works for the other place.....we have been on at her for YEARS to think about this and she is just getting round to it! It would be a good investment but needs major refurb - but that could wait a while - it would be an opportunity of a lifetime so we don't want to pass up on that if we get the chance. It is the top two stories of a Greenwich townhouse and would likely be in the region of 100K and if on the open market they are fetching up to 500K but I think hers would be around the 270/300 mark as it is one of the smaller ones. Having said that it probably needs 75 to 100 spending on it - I mean TOTAL refurb and possibly some structural stuff too.
